Jenny Welch
Director of Special Logistics

22 Years of Experience – Joined Sun in 1998

Jenny has been part of the Sun workforce for a large part of the company's history. Jenny started working as a Project Coordinator, providing logistical support to the Project Managers and learning the day-to-day tasks of construction management. After a few years, Jenny transitioned into an accounting support role. In her new position as Directory of Special Logistics, Jenny will leverage her long history with the company to strengthen its identity and reinforce its investment in the community through charitable giving and sponsorships.

Scott Solem
Vice President of Operations

40 Years’ Experience – Joined Sun in 2007

Scott’s experience serving on both the side of the Owner and of the General Contractor provides valuable insight into the Owner/Contractor relationship. Scott has dedicated a substantial amount of his 40-year career, 13 with Sun Construction, to technical work in challenging environments. Scott brings a unique blend of vision, relationship-building and problem-solving to Sun’s customers. As V.P. of Operations, Scott is continually working to enhance Sun Construction's technical capabilities and the customer experience. Scott’s project experience includes work in High Tech, Pharmaceutical, Food/Beverage, Manufacturing & Industrial, Aerospace, and Higher Education.

Vanessa Hyre
Vice President of Administration

23 Years of Experience – Joined Sun in 2011

Vanessa is responsible for overseeing and refining the day-to-day functions and processes of the project teams at Sun. She is responsible for the oversight and coordination of Sun's project support teams and administrative staff. Vanessa is also responsible for managing specific areas of the company’s risk control processes.

Ryan Brenneman
Project Executive

31 Years of Experience – Joined Sun in 2013

Ryan’s experience is from a vast array of projects including manufacturing, retail, automotive, parks & recreational, historic renovations, high technological, medical, municipal, government, laboratory, and educational. Much of his project experience has been fast track as well as complex in nature. As project executive, Ryan will maintain oversight of the project team, monitor customer expectation, observe overall team performance, assist in areas of challenge, and provide expertise that can benefit the project. Ryan also takes the lead on Design-Build projects by building strong relationships with clients, providing clear communication and ensuring complete owner satisfaction.

Tim Strong
Vice President and Project Manager

33 Years of Experience – Joined Sun in 1990

Tim’s responsibilities through the years with the company have grown and changed as the needs have arisen. Tim’s experience with mid to high-level tenant finish jobs has brought back many valued customers. He understands the needs of value and quality and strives for the customers input on a continual basis in order to achieve the final goal. Communication is a strong skill Tim possesses and he beliefs that communication is the key to a successful project. Tim’s Project Manager experience allows him to work on multiple projects ranging from high-tech facilities maintenance; pharmaceutical offices and labs; data centers; higher education campus projects; ground-up construction; design-build projects and tenant finish buildouts.

Darrin L. Johnson, MHRM

24 Years of Experience (Joined Sun in 2018)

Darrin oversees the financial and human resources operations at Sun. His 24+ years of professional experience includes a variety of financial management positions with the last 18 years spent in the construction industry where his progressive and comprehensive experience in accounting includes budgeting, forecasting, strategic financial management, and personnel development/management. During his time in construction financial leadership, he has held a variety of leadership positions with the Colorado Chapter of the Construction Financial Managers Association as well as serving on national committees and the National Executive Board of the Association.
